Scope Summary

Main building: construction of a 400 m² house with a contemporary tropical concept.
Specialist materials: use of classic tile floors, natural stone walls, frog tiles, and joglo doors that give a traditional character.
Door and frame: all doors and frames are made of sturdy and durable old teak wood.
Sanitation & facilities: Toto Ketas sanitary installations to high quality standards.
Supporting area: creation of green gardens and rooms for service areas.

Challenges & Solutions

Construction on this contemporary tropical home proceeded relatively smoothly, but still presented a number of technical challenges. The gently sloping terrain and narrow access required more careful logistical planning, though still adequate. The construction process took longer due to the need to source specialist materials as requested by the owner. Classic tiles had to be sourced directly in Java to ensure quality, while the frog tiles were selected from the finest reclaimed materials to create a strong vintage feel. For the antique teak and joglo doors, we collaborated with local craftsmen in Bali, while also sourcing suitable logs to complement the design.
