This building was originally a standard Type 45 house with a simple one-story structure and a non-riverstone foundation. The owner wanted a significant upgrade to a three-story building with a small swimming pool and rooftop, but the existing structure couldn't support the additional weight. The biggest challenge was remodeling the structure and ensuring safe load distribution, given that the house had already been expanded to the rear.
The solution is a combination of structures: the approximately 40% rear area is constructed of sturdy reinforced concrete to support vertical loads, while the front uses a steel frame connected to the concrete for flexibility and strength. The facade is reinforced with watermelon bricks on a WF steel frame, resulting in a modern tropical residence that is aesthetically pleasing, functional, and structurally sound.
